The same method was used for processing payments, and the server would have to take the credit card or payment, process it at the terminal, and then return to the table to present the guest with the receipt.

This was time consuming, as it required multiple trips to and from the table for the staff. In addition, at peak times, there would be a bottleneck at the terminal as all waitstaff used the same terminal. Another problem with these legacy systems is the difficulty in creating multiple tickets for a table, which also slowed down the terminal and created wait times for guests.

Cloud-Based POS Systems
