Custom Business Solutions Releases NorthStar Point of Sale 4.5

– New Software Update Includes Key Productivity Enhancements for Hospitality Environments –

Today Custom Business Solutions announces the release of NorthStar 4.5 with key productivity enhancements to help hospitality environments increase speed of service, manage security and drive efficiency for guests and servers.

Our software does just that, and NorthStar 4.5 boosts speed and order accuracy even more in busy restaurants. The top enhancements to NorthStar 4.5 include:

  • Manager swipe override. In a fast-paced restaurant waiting for a manager to override a transaction can cost valuable time. The new manager swipe override allows a manager to use high-level job functions while the server is still working on the check. By swiping a manager card on the server’s check, the manager has control of the screen. After the function is completed, whether it’s a comp, delete or discount, the manager taps the screen and the control reverts to the server. This feature does not allow the server to continue in manager mode, further enhancing security for the transaction.
  • Alpha-Numeric table coding. As an enhancement to NorthStar’s best-in-class table map, tables may be numbered or labeled with alphanumeric labels such as ”Bar,” “To-Go,” “Outside” or “Patio.” This new feature helps servers more quickly identify the table and increase efficiency while decreasing training time. In an industry where turnover is high, this detailed tool can have a big impact on training and getting servers ready to be self-sufficient on the floor.
  • Item search. For operators with extensive menus, this search enhancement saves critical time. The item search function allows servers to immediately find items on the system by entering a word or only a few letters. The search is faster than a drop down menu and particularly helpful with new menu items, large wine or spirits lists, or specials.
