Software Information POSitouch Supports 64 Bit Windows Versions and New Tricks to make 64 Bit Your Friend!

POSitouch is 64 Bit Compatible!

Yes POSitouch is 64 Bit compatible.

If you simple use the CBS installer or updater the installer will determine if you are using a 64 bit operating system and install and register the DLL’s and EXE’s to the correct location.

Now a few commands that you may be familiar with are different in a 64 bit environment.

I will provide a list below.

One item that sometimes causes an issue to be aware of is zipe.exe.

The New setup installer will install a 64 bit compatible version of the program; but, sometimes in an upgrade the zipe.exe this does not happen. If an error occurs when advancing the week in Time and Attendance please make sure the zipe.exe is up to date (6/7/2011).

Navigator or POSitouch Back Office installation and functionality in the 64 bit environment remains the same.

Standard POSitouch Transactional Mirroring & Redundancy work properly if network discovery is turned on,  UAC is off and the files are set for read/write/modify via the share user’s name.

How to turn off UAC:

Open User Account Control Settings by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, and then clicking Control Panel.

In the search box, type UAC, and then click Change User Account Control settings.

To turn off UAC, move the slider to the Never notify position, and then click OK.

If you’re prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. You will need to restart your computer for UAC to be turned off.

The Utilities for Dumping, Chunking & Joining check files are exe now and not pgm’s.

To use DumpChk.exe we first go to the sc folder that holds the check file.

We use L:scdumpchk.exe

We Put the date of the check file we want to view in Both the Beginning and Ending Date

We then Click on Process Check File

To use the new Chunk.exe

To use DumpChk.exe we first go to the sc folder that holds the check file.

We use L:scchunk.exe

We Place the File Name in

1) Source File in this case US052814.INV

2) The Starting Chunk 2493

3) The Ending Chunk 2611

4) Destination name ( I like to use the US+Month+Date+ YR set to 00) eg US052800.INV

5) Click on Process File

Let Us See how to join a Check File.

Even thought this utility is now an executable it does not have a GUI.

It is run from a Command Prompt.

Make Sure to have backup copies of the two files to be joined

The command will join the files on the first file name and rename the second file name with a .mo1 extension.

The Command takes the format:

JOINCHK  US052814.TOP US052814.BOT

In a more generic form: C:scJoinchk FileName1 FileName2 FileName3

You can join as many file segments as you desire.

I recommend that you only join two segments at a Time

The Joinchk.exe Command Combined US052814.TOP with US052814.BOT

This created a New JOINED FILE Named US052814.TOP and the command renamed US052814.BOT to US052814.M01

Transerve.exe does work on 64 bit system

You may need to address the IP port address in transerve.ini Windows 7 and above prefer that the IP Ports be the 5100+ range

Also make sure the PORT2=COM* that * is a com port that is installed in the system

*Just a general rule all *.pgm programs have been replaced with *.exe versions so there is no need to use the run *.pgm structure.
