Services

Everything after the purchase order.

Buying restaurant technology is the easy part. Getting it specified, configured, installed across every location, supported at 2am and repaired when it fails is where most brands end up managing four vendors. CBS NorthStar does all of it, with one phone number.

What This Is

What restaurant technology services cover

Restaurant technology services cover everything that happens around the equipment rather than inside it: specifying and sourcing it, configuring it before it ships, deploying it across locations, supporting the people using it, repairing it when it fails, and managing the infrastructure it runs on.

CBS NorthStar has provided all seven since 1994, out of Irvine, California with field offices in San Diego, Dallas, Houston and Denver. Services are available whether or not the point-of-sale platform came from us. Most operators arrive needing one of them and discover over time that the value was never in any single service. It was in not having to arbitrate between the vendors providing them.

The Vendor Problem

Four vendors means four people who can each say not our part.

The hardware supplier, the integrator, the network provider and the support desk are each doing their job correctly, and the store is still down, because the fault sits in the space between them and nobody owns that space.

One team across the whole lifecycle removes the argument. The people who specified the equipment configured it, the people who configured it installed it, and the people who installed it answer the phone when it breaks.

Who We Serve

One location, or five hundred.

CBS NorthStar has supported hospitality and retail operators since 1994, out of Irvine, California with field offices in San Diego, Dallas, Houston and Denver and technicians positioned across the country. Services scale from a single site to five-hundred-unit brands, and the shape changes rather than the availability.

Franchise groups are a common fit, because one agreement across independently owned locations gives the franchisor consistent standards without making every owner negotiate their own contract or vet a vendor of their own.

Questions, Answered

The service program, in plain terms.

What services does CBS NorthStar provide?
Seven restaurant technology services: hardware procurement, staging and configuration, nationwide rollouts, nationwide on-site field service, advance depot services, managed IT services, and a 24/7 help desk. All are available individually or together, across restaurant, grocery and convenience operators.
Do we have to run the NorthStar platform to use these?
No. Services are available whether or not your point-of-sale platform came from CBS NorthStar. Rollouts, procurement, staging, field service and depot repair all cover equipment and platforms we did not sell you.
Can we buy just one service?
Yes, and most operators do. Brands typically start with on-site service or the help desk and consolidate the rest over time, usually once they get tired of arbitrating between a hardware vendor, an integrator and a network provider.
What is the difference between on-site service and depot repair?
On-site service sends a technician to your location with parts and fixes most faults there. Depot repair covers what a counter cannot support, with advance exchange shipping a working replacement before the failed unit comes back. Most operators run both.
What is the difference between the help desk and managed services?
The help desk answers when something goes wrong with the point of sale. Managed services owns the infrastructure underneath it, monitoring and maintaining networks, servers, firewalls and backups so fewer things go wrong in the first place.
Who do we call?
(800) 551-7674, for all of it. For anything stopping the business, choose option 1 then option 9. Existing customers can also raise and track tickets in the support portal at any hour.
What areas do you cover?
On-site coverage across the United States, run from Irvine, California with field offices in San Diego, Dallas, Houston and Denver, and technicians positioned across the country.
How do we start working with CBS NorthStar?
Call (800) 551-7674 or use the form on this page and tell us what is going wrong today. You do not need a plan covering all seven services. Most relationships start with one problem.
Do you work with single-location operators?
Yes. Services run from single locations to five-hundred-unit brands. What changes is the shape rather than the availability, and we will say plainly which services a single site does not need yet.
Can we move services across gradually?
Yes, and it is the usual pattern. Brands typically start with on-site service or the help desk, add depot coverage, and consolidate rollouts and procurement later once they have seen how the team works.
What does it cost?
It depends on which services, how many locations, and what equipment is at each. There is no single price list because a fifteen-site group and a three-hundred-site brand do not have the same problem. Send us your locations and we will price the specific services you need.
What makes a restaurant technology specialist different from a general IT provider?
Context and urgency. A generalist treats a kitchen display outage as a routine ticket. A specialist knows that a network fault at 6pm on a Friday is a revenue event, that a drive-thru with one order point has no redundancy, and that the fix has to work around a dinner rush rather than a maintenance window.
Do you service equipment and platforms you did not sell?
Yes, across procurement, staging, rollouts, on-site field service and depot repair. Send an equipment list and we will confirm exactly what we can cover before you sign anything.
How do the services fit together?
As a lifecycle. Equipment is procured, staged and configured, rolled out across locations, supported by the help desk day to day, repaired on-site or through the depot when it fails, and the infrastructure underneath it is managed throughout. Each stage hands to the next with the asset records intact.

Start Somewhere

Tell us what is hurting today.

You do not need a plan for all seven. Tell us the one thing that keeps going wrong, and how many locations it is happening at, and we will tell you honestly which service fixes it, which ones you do not need yet, and which one you could reasonably keep doing yourselves.

  • Which service actually addresses the problem you have
  • What you do not need to buy yet
  • What consolidating would look like over time
